Flood Relief Mission by Sisters of the Cross-Tenali Province : A Service of Compassion

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40

In response to the devastating floods that affected several areas in Andhra and Telangana during the months of September and October, Holy Cross sisters from Tenali province extended their hands and hearts in service to those in need, especially Gudivada, Kollipara, Tenali and Nandirajuthota communities were privileged to respond to the immediate need. Guided by faith and a deep sense of mission, the sisters swiftly organized and carried out extensive relief efforts for the most vulnerable. They have reached out through to several remote villages closer to our mission stations and A few areas like Sing Nagar, Krishna Lanka, Lenin Centre at Vijayawada and a few kits were distributed in collaboration with YESJ-Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada.

Over the course of 15 days, the sisters provided:

  • Rescue and relief support to stranded families in remote and affected areas.
  • Distribution of emergency kits containing food, clean drinking water, clothing, and hygiene essentials.
  • Medical aid through distribution of medicines to the sick and elderly.
  • Emotional and spiritual support, offering prayer, counselling, and comfort to those affected by loss and trauma.
  • “In every act of love, we see the face of Christ.”

This mission was not just about providing material assistance—it was a living testimony of faith in action, bringing hope and healing to those in despair. It was more than just a response—it was a reflection of our deep call to serve Christ through the suffering. The sisters’ presence brought not only practical aid but also peace, dignity, and hope.

We are deeply grateful to our benefactors, volunteers, and local communities who supported this mission through their prayers, donations, and solidarity.
