“Awakening to New Leadership”- By Bro. Philip Pinto

A three-day formative session on “Awakening to New Leadership” was successfully conducted at Poondi, under the able guidance of Br. Philip Pinto, an eminent leader, facilitator, and former Superior General of Christian Brothers. The session brought together participants from three provinces namely Trichy, Angamaly and Tenali. Sisters who are in leadership roles at various levels were divided into two groups and the session was organized in two phases. Sisters were invited for a reflective and enriching journey into contemporary leadership rooted in spirituality, collaboration, and mission.

The programme aimed at enabling participants to rediscover leadership as a call to service and accompaniment, rather than authority or position. Through prayerful reflection, personal sharing, group discussions, and interactive inputs, Br. Philip Pinto invited the participants to examine their inner dispositions, leadership styles, and readiness to respond to the challenges of the present times.

Day One: Leadership and Inner Awakening

The first day focused on self-awareness and interior freedom as the foundation of authentic leadership. Participants were guided to reflect on their personal experiences, values, and inner movements, recognizing that effective leadership flows from a deep connection with oneself and with God. The sessions emphasized listening, humility, and openness to transformation.

Day Two: Leadership in Relationship and Collaboration

The second day highlighted relational and collaborative leadership. Br. Pinto stressed the importance of dialogue, trust, shared responsibility, and inclusivity in leadership. Participants were encouraged to move away from rigid structures and embrace participatory models that empower others and build community. Practical examples and group interactions helped participants understand leadership as a shared mission.

Day Three: Leadership for Mission and the Future

The final day focused on mission-oriented leadership, calling participants to translate inner awakening into concrete action. Leadership was presented as a response to the needs of the time, especially in serving the vulnerable and fostering hope. The session concluded with personal and collective commitments to lead with courage, compassion, and renewed vision.

Outcome

The three-day session proved to be a deeply enriching and transformative experience. Participants gained clarity, renewed motivation, and practical insights to exercise leadership with greater authenticity, responsibility, and faithfulness to their mission.

The programme concluded with gratitude to Br. Philip Pinto for his inspiring guidance and to all participants for their active involvement, making the session a meaningful step towards awakening to new leadership.
